These cute ghost cookies start with a simple sugar cookie dough that's chilled, rolled, and cut into ghost shapes. After baking, they're decorated with a vanilla glaze and finished with black gel icing faces for a fun Halloween treat.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Beat together ⅔ cup unsalted butter and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then mix in 1 large egg and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
  2. Stir in 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt until a soft dough forms. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to make cutting easier.
  3. Roll the dough to about ¼-inch thickness using a rolling pin, then cut out ghost shapes with a ghost cookie cutter.
  4. Arrange the cookies on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes, just until the edges are set.
  5. Whisk together 2 cups powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to make a thick glaze. Spoon it into a disposable piping bag.
  6. Pipe an outline around each ghost cookie, then flood the inside with glaze. Let set for 10–15 minutes, then draw faces using black gel icing.
