Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at betweennapsontheporch.net.
These broomstick place card holders are easy to make using raffia, twigs or candy apple sticks, and a few basic supplies. Wrap raffia into bristles, attach a stained stick, and add a name label for a spooky-chic tablescape accent.

Directions
- From the naturally bent end of a raffia clump, snip off a piece roughly the right size for the broom's bristle tip.
- Grip the bristle ends firmly, then wrap yarn or jute thread around and around the uncut top, beginning about 3/4 to 1 inch from the edge.
- When the wrapping looks good, tie the thread securely and apply a small dab of Fabri-tac glue to prevent loosening.
- Gently separate some raffia at the top, then push the pointed end of the candy apple stick about an inch into the gap. If it seems loose, put a drop of Fabri-tac or hot glue on the stick before reinserting.
- Remove the stick and apply dark wood stain to its visible part. Skip staining if you are using twigs instead.
- Cut a thin strip of paper or card stock, snip a small notch at one end, and write the guest's name with a gold Sharpie.
- Put a small amount of hot glue on the label's end and wrap it around the stick just below the raffia. Optionally, wrap a ribbon around the yarn to conceal it.
