This recipe guides you through making a layered gelatin dessert using yellow, orange, and white mixtures to resemble candy corn. You will dissolve the gelatin powders in hot and cold water, chill each layer before adding the next, and prepare a creamy white topping using milk, sugar, gelatin, sour cream, and vanilla. The final dessert is chilled until firm and can be garnished with whipped cream and sprinkles.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Pour the boiling water over the yellow gelatin mix in a bowl, stirring constantly until the powder disappears. Stir in the cold water afterward.
  2. Split the yellow liquid evenly among six small glasses.
  3. Chill the glasses in the fridge until the yellow layer is firm, then prepare the orange layer.
  4. Dissolve the orange gelatin powder in fresh boiling water, mixing well, and then stir in the remaining cold water.
  5. Once the orange mixture cools to room temperature, gently pour it over the set yellow layer in each glass. Return the cups to the refrigerator to chill until firm.
  6. Heat the milk in a saucepan until it reaches a boil, then stir in the sugar until it fully dissolves. Take the pan off the heat.
  7. Mix the Knox gelatin into a quarter cup of cold water until smooth, then stir it into the warm milk mixture.
  8. Blend in the vanilla extract and sour cream using an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  9. Let the white mixture cool to room temperature. Once the orange layer is set, carefully pour the white mixture on top to fill the glasses. Chill again until the top layer is firm.
  10. Serve the finished cups topped with whipped cream and festive sprinkles if you like.
