Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at pinkpeppermintdesign.com.
This DIY project transforms a large clear plastic bowl into a mummy-themed trick-or-treat bowl. You'll cover it with white fabric strips, add button eyes, and fill it with Hershey's candy for a spooky but cute Halloween decoration.
You'll need
Directions
- Fold your fabric in half lengthwise. Starting near the folded edge, make a cut about half an inch deep and 1.5 inches from the edge.
- Rip the fabric from that cut to create a long strip.
- Continue cutting and tearing strips in the same way until the entire yard of fabric is a pile of long strips.
- Cut each long strip into shorter pieces roughly 4 to 5 inches long.
- Using a hot glue gun, attach the fabric strips to the bowl, overlapping the ends as you go, until the entire bowl is covered.
- Tie simple knots in a few of the strips before gluing them on to add extra texture and dimension.
- Glue the googly eyes onto the two buttons to create larger, more three-dimensional eyes.
- Glue the buttons with eyes onto the bowl, positioning them so they peek out from under a bit of fabric.
- Fill the large bowl with Hershey’s chocolate candies.
