Turn your room into a haunted cave with this easy DIY bat mobile—just paper, thread, and a branch!
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at rebeccasdiy.blogspot.com.
Create a spooky bat mobile using black paper, scissors, sewing thread, a branch, and fishing line. Print a bat template, cut and fold the paper bats, attach thread, and tie them to a branch at varying heights. Finish by balancing the mobile with fishing line and a hanging loop.
You'll need
Directions
- Print the bat template and cut out two bats. Trace these shapes onto black paper and cut them out.
- Using scissors, make three straight cuts around each bat's body. This will help you fold the paper to create a more three-dimensional bat.
- Thread a piece of black sewing thread through each bat, tying a knot on the underside of the body to secure it.
- Tie the bats to a branch. For a swarm effect, find a branch with many forks and attach the bats at different heights. Tie smaller bats closer to the branch so they appear higher up than the larger ones, creating an illusion of distance.
- Cut three long pieces of fishing line and attach them to three different spots on the branch. Hold the mobile up and adjust the line lengths until it hangs as desired. Tie a loop at the end of the lines for hanging.
