This project guides you through painting foam pumpkins and a skull with chalky finish paint to achieve a concrete-like matte look. You will then modify the pumpkins to hold black candy sticks and carve the skull to serve as a vase for flowers and water.
You'll need
Directions
- Apply two layers of chalky finish paint to every foam piece. I chose Relic, a deep charcoal shade, but any craft paint will work.
- Once the paint dries, your pumpkins and skull will develop a smooth, matte surface that resembles concrete.
- To create a candy holder from the pumpkins, poke several holes into the top using a foam tool, skewer, or dowel rod. Then, simply insert the black candy sticks into these openings.
- For the skull vase, carve a cavity in the top that matches the dimensions of your glass or vase. Use a foam cutter for this task, which may require a few minutes of work. Once the opening is ready, place the container inside, fill it with water, and arrange your white carnations.
