These Frankenstein Rice Krispie Treats are a fun Halloween twist on a classic dessert. Green-tinted cereal squares are dipped in black candy melts, then decorated with candy eyes and a glittered marshmallow bolt. They're easy to make and perfect for spooky parties.
Ingredients
Directions
- Line an 8x8-inch baking dish with two pieces of parchment paper, letting the paper hang over all four sides. Lightly spray the paper with coconut oil spray.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Reduce heat to low, add the mini marshmallows, and stir continuously until they are almost fully melted, about 30 seconds.
- Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and green gel food coloring. Then add the rice krispies cereal and stir until well coated.
- Pour the cereal mixture into the prepared pan. Use a thin metal spatula sprayed with coconut oil to spread it into an even layer.
- Allow the mixture to cool completely, then cut into 6 equal pieces.
- Lightly spray the 12 mini marshmallows with edible silver glitter spray.
- Melt the black candy melts using a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl in the microwave.
- Dip the top inch of each rice krispie treat into the melted black candy, then place each on a parchment-lined baking tray to set.
- Use black decorating icing as glue to attach two candy eyeballs onto each treat.
- Draw a mouth on each treat using the black decorating icing.
- Again use the black icing as glue to stick one glittered mini marshmallow on the side of each treat.
- Let the frosting set completely before serving.
