You'll need
Directions
- Print out the pages on regular white printer paper — print one for each person coloring or print a bunch and let them choose.
- Hand out the color by number pages and some coloring utensils; crayons, colored pencils, or markers work best (paint is possible but not recommended).
- Find the first number on the page as well as the color associated with that number.
- Color in all of the spaces with that number.
- Move to the next number and repeat.
- Continue until the entire color by number printable is colored in.
Tips
- For young children, go through the colors together as a group and color in the crayons before letting them color the rest of the picture, so kids who can't read the color words still know the matching number for each color.
- Coloring helps with fine motor skills practice.
- Finding numbers to color is good practice for number recognition.
- Matching the number to the associated color on the picture and the correct color utensil practices color recognition.
- The numbers were kept easily legible and in spaces big enough to actually color, so kids can complete any of the pages.
- These make a good free time activity during a Halloween party, a break from Halloween games, or an addition to a Halloween fun bucket at home.
- Candy corn and the owl were included so the packet can be used as a fall color by number set by skipping the Halloween characters.
- Great to pair with a roll a pumpkin game for a fall festival or activity day.
- Best for kids who can recognize numbers, likely kindergarten students and above, though kids of all ages can use them with help.
- Let kids color the pictures however they want unless it's an actual independent work assignment, since forcing specific colors can ruin the fun.
