This project transforms a Dollar Tree skull and hand into an elegant, literary-themed decoration. You'll paint the skull black and the hand a rich rust copper, then add highlights, beaded glitter eye sockets, and gem details. Finally, cradle the skull in the hand for a striking display.
You'll need
Directions
- Use a sponge spouncer to apply a coat of Craft Smart multi-surface acrylic paint in black all over the skull.
- Paint the hand completely using Martha Stewart multi-surface paint in Rust, which is a deep reddish copper tone.
- With a fine-tipped brush, apply the copper paint into the cracks of the skull, outline the mouth and nose, and dry-brush a little onto the teeth to create highlights.
- Using Judi Kins' Diamond Glaze (dimensional glue), pool a small amount in each eye socket, sprinkle a mix of seed beads and glitter over the glue, then add a bit more glue on top to seal.
- Apply Creatology Gems from Michaels around the eye sockets with the same glue, and use leftover dark gray rhinestones to decorate the center and sides of the head.
- Place the skull so it rests securely in the hand, as if cradled.
