These Halloween brownies start with a rich chocolate base made from melted butter and chips. A bright orange cream cheese layer is spread on top, then studded with crushed Oreos and festive M&M's. Bake until set, cool, and slice for a fun, festive treat.
Ingredients
Directions
- In a large bowl, melt the butter and semisweet chocolate chips together in the microwave. Heat for 30 seconds, stir, then heat another 30 seconds and stir until completely smooth.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the flour, white sugar, brown sugar, Dutch process cocoa, and salt until combined.
- Stir the large eggs and vanilla extract into the melted butter and chocolate mixture until well incorporated.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spoon or spatula, mixing just until no dry streaks remain.
- Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or spray it with cooking spray. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1 egg and ¼ cup sugar until smooth. Add orange food coloring and mix until the mixture turns bright orange.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter in the pan. Sprinkle the broken Oreo cookies and Halloween M&M Goul mix (purple, green, and orange M&M's) on top.
- Bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack for about 30 minutes before slicing.
