These Halloween lollipop cookies are made from a simple sugar cookie dough divided into three colors—orange, black, and white. The dough is rolled into logs, twisted together, coiled into a circle, and baked on a stick for a festive, lollipop-like treat.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and white sugar together until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract. Then stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least one hour, or overnight for best results.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Divide the chilled dough into three equal portions. Tint each portion with a different food gel color—orange, black, and bright white work well.
  6. Take about a tablespoon of each colored dough and roll each into a log roughly 10 inches long.
  7. Place the three logs side by side to form a tri-color rope.
  8. Carefully twist the rope, then coil it into a circle (like a snail shape). Transfer the coiled cookie to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Insert a bake-safe lollipop stick straight through the center of the cookie, ensuring it passes through all the coils without poking out the top. Alternatively, you can place the stick behind the cookie and press the cookie onto it.
  10. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
  11. Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
