This tutorial walks you through creating a skeleton makeup look starting with flattening eyebrows with glue and a white base. Then you'll apply black cream to eyes, nose, and cheeks to define bone structure. The result is a convincing skeletal face perfect for Halloween.

Directions

  1. Start with a clean, moisturized face. Before applying any makeup, use a glue stick to flatten your eyebrows by applying it in the direction the hairs grow. (Remember to patch test the glue on your skin a day in advance to check for allergies.) Then set the glue with translucent powder: dab it on with a powder puff and brush off the excess.
  2. Apply white cream makeup all over your face, neck, and lips using a makeup sponge. Once the base is on, avoid touching your face—fingerprints are hard to blend away.
  3. Using a flat makeup brush, fill the eye hollows with black cream makeup. Then with a flat craft brush, blend black makeup along the sides of your nose to highlight the bridge. For the skeleton cheekbones, outline the bottom of the cheekbone with black cream, extending from near the hairline up to the forehead—almost to the center and about an inch above the eyebrows. Carefully blend the line downward on your cheek to create a shadow effect, using small brushstrokes; soften any harsh edges with a makeup sponge if needed. Also blend the top line downward. Finally, draw a triangle just above the nose tip and blend it downward, keeping the very tip of the nose white.
