Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at hgtv.com.
This recipe transforms a simple brownie into a Halloween-themed dessert. The brownie is baked in an 8-inch round pan, then cooled and decorated with frosting and sanding sugars in orange, yellow, and white to mimic candy corn. A stencil helps create the iconic shape.
Ingredients
Directions
- Take an 8-inch round cake pan and shape aluminum foil around its exterior, making sure the shiny surface faces outward.
- Take off the foil, invert it, and press it into the pan to line the interior. Lightly spray with cooking spray and set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter and unsweetened chocolate together. Allow the mixture to cool entirely before moving on.
- Combine the eggs and salt in a mixing bowl and beat on medium-high speed until they become pale and frothy, roughly 5 minutes.
- Stir in the vanilla, then gradually add the sugar, 1/4 cup at a time, continuing to beat until the blend turns thick.
- Using a rubber spatula, fold in the cooled melted chocolate and butter mixture, stirring only until incorporated.
- Add the flour and mix just until no streaks remain.
- Transfer the batter into the lined pan and level the surface with the spatula.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center emerges with a few moist crumbs.
- Lift the brownie out of the pan using the foil edges, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool fully.
