Create whimsical ghost sugar cookies using a simple sugar cookie mix. After baking, decorate with royal icing and use a black food marker to add cute expressions. Let the icing dry fully before drawing faces, then store in an airtight container.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix up the sugar cookie dough following the instructions on the Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix package or using your own preferred recipe.
  2. Roll the dough flat to a thickness of about ¼ inch.
  3. Press out ghost shapes with a mini tulip cookie cutter.
  4. Bake the cookies according to the time and temperature specified by your dough recipe.
  5. Whip up a batch of royal icing and adjust it to an 8-second consistency.
  6. Fit a disposable pastry bag with a PME #2 decorating tip, then outline and flood each cooled cookie with the royal icing.
  7. Let the royal icing set completely, which takes about 24 hours.
  8. Use a black edible food marker to draw cheerful little faces onto the dried icing.
  9. Wait another hour for the marker ink to dry, then store the cookies in an airtight container.
