Transform your door into a portal to Halloween Town with this Nightmare Before Christmas inspired pumpkin decoration.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at studiodiy.com.
This project uses EVA foam to create a textured pumpkin door decoration resembling the tree-pumpkins from The Nightmare Before Christmas. You'll carve bark lines, paint it with orange and brown hues, and assemble a layered nose. Finally, hang it with nails for a spooky holiday welcome.
You'll need
Directions
- Cut a pumpkin shape from your 2mm EVA foam using freehand tracing or by projecting a movie image onto a wall.
- Draw a faint outline of the pumpkin's face onto the foam using a pencil.
- Press the back end of a paintbrush or pen into the foam to create grooves that mimic tree bark texture seen in the film.
- Paint the pumpkin with a blend of orange shades, keeping one section lighter to match the movie's lighting. Use dark brown for the facial features and a deep forest green for the stem.
- For the nose, cut three small triangles from the foam, stack them with hot glue, and paint the stack beige. Let it dry completely.
- Attach the stack of triangles to the pumpkin's face using hot glue.
- Hang the finished pumpkin on your door using nails or another suitable method.
