Making pumpkin puree from scratch is easy and rewarding. Start by preheating the oven and prepping the pumpkin, then bake until tender. After cooling, peel, mash, and store the puree for all your autumn recipes.
Ingredients
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Cut off the stem, slice the sugar pumpkin in half, and scoop out all the seeds and stringy insides so the halves are clean and hollow.
- Place the pumpkin halves skin-side up on a baking sheet and bake for about 40 minutes at 350°F until tender.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool for roughly 10 minutes. Then, using a large spoon, peel off the skin from each half.
- Mash the cooked pumpkin flesh with a fork or potato masher until it becomes a smooth puree.
- Transfer the puree to an airtight container and store it in the fridge or freezer until ready to use.
