This DIY project transforms pool noodles into eerie candelabra using battery-operated tea lights and paint. The noodles are cut to various heights, glued together, and painted with a lava-like effect for a haunting centerpiece.
You'll need
Directions
- Using scissors, cut two pool noodles into pieces of different heights: 21, 19, 17, 16, 15, 14, 12, 9, and 8 inches. Place a red battery-operated tea-light candle on the end of each noodle and trace its outline with a permanent marker. Cut out the traced area so the candle can sit snugly inside. Repeat for every noodle piece.
- Group the noodles together, starting with the tallest and descending in size. Use strips of Velcro (or another non-denting material) to hold them in place while the glue sets. Apply Gorilla Glue between the noodles and let it dry.
- Snip the front edges of the noodles at an angle to mimic melted candle wax. Then use a hot glue gun to add glue to the top rim of each noodle, letting it drip down the sides to create a wax-like effect.
- Spray the entire noodle bundle with matte black spray paint and let it dry completely. Afterward, brush red acrylic paint onto the tops of the noodles and over the glue drips, leaving some black areas visible to resemble glowing lava.
- Lightly dab the painted candles with a sea sponge to create a distressed, textured look. Place a large charger or placemat underneath as a base. Insert the battery-operated candles into the cut holes, then glue the noodle bundle securely onto the charger.
