Transform a simple square of paper into a spooky origami bat with just a few folds.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at howaboutorange.blogspot.com.
This intermediate origami project turns a single square sheet into a Halloween bat. You'll make diagonal folds, bring corners to the center, and then create squash folds for wings. The final steps shape the head and add a slight lift to the wings.

Directions
- Start by folding your square paper diagonally to create a triangle, then open it back up.
- Fold it diagonally the opposite way and flatten, then unfold again.
- Bring all four corners to the center point and press down to make a smaller square.
- Flip the paper over, then fold the top and bottom edges inward so they meet at the center crease.
- Fold the left and right edges toward the center as well, creating a smaller shape.
- Open up the two folds you just made and perform a squash fold on each side to shape the wings.
- Take the top layer and fold it downward to form the bat's head.
- Slightly lift the wings upward to give them dimension.
- Your origami bat is finished!
