These meringue bones are a fun and creepy addition to any Halloween party. Made with just a few ingredients, they are piped into bone shapes and baked low and slow until crisp. Store them in an airtight container to keep them from turning soggy.

Directions

  1. Set your oven to 200°F. Cover a cookie sheet with a brown paper bag or parchment paper. In a medium bowl, beat the egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt on high speed until fluffy.
  2. Slowly add the sugar while continuing to beat, then mix in the vanilla.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a pastry bag fitted with a medium plain tip. Pipe 3-inch bone shapes onto the prepared paper.
  4. Bake for 1 hour until set, then turn off the oven and let the bones dry inside for an additional hour.
  5. Keep them in a sealed container to prevent them from getting soft.
