This seven-step guide shows how to create a kid-friendly Frankenstein's daughter look using green cream and powder makeup, purple eyeshadow, and stitch details. Add 3-D prosthetic bolts with spirit gum, and finish with striped hair or a wig plus a plaid outfit for a cute Halloween costume.

Directions

  1. Start by applying a green cream makeup base all over your child's face with a sponge, blending smoothly and evenly, and continue down onto the neck for full coverage.
  2. Use a fluffy blending brush to dust a light green eyeshadow over the same areas where the cream was applied. Add a small amount of pink blush to the apples of the cheeks.
  3. Define the eyebrows using a brown or gray eyebrow pencil. On the eyelids, apply a purple or mauve eyeshadow and blend it up into the crease. Use a slightly lighter shade halfway up the lid and blend the two colors together.
  4. For older girls comfortable with eye makeup, line the upper and lower lashes with black eyeliner and apply mascara to make the eyes stand out and appear bigger.
  5. Draw stitch lines on the face and neck. Attach 3-D prosthetic bolts to the neck using spirit gum or liquid latex. If your child has never used these adhesives, be sure to do a patch test first to check for allergies.
  6. Create black and white stripes in the hair with hair mascara, or save time by using a pre-styled wig for a more dramatic effect. Secure the wig with bobby pins so it stays in place during playtime and trick-or-treating.
  7. Complete the costume with a plaid outfit and trendy accessories.
