Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at sadieseasongoods.com.
This Halloween craft repurposes white ceiling fan blades into hanging ghost decorations. After cutting ghost shapes, sanding, painting, and adding faces, you seal them with a waterproof coating and hang them outside with clear fishing line.
You'll need
Directions
- Sketch a ghost outline onto each white fan blade using a pencil, a compass, and a ruler to guide your shape.
- Carefully cut out the ghost shapes from the fan blades using a jigsaw.
- Sand the cut edges of each blade until they are smooth to the touch.
- Drill a tiny hole near the top of the ghosts that will serve as the bottom blade to allow for hanging.
- Spray both sides of the blades with white paint to cover the wood grain and any pencil marks.
- For the ghosts that will be the top blade, fill in the eye holes with white wood filler, scrape off the excess, and let them dry overnight.
- Paint faces onto the ghosts by hand without using a stencil.
- Brush or spray a water-resistant sealant over the finished decorations to protect them outdoors.
- Suspend the ghosts outside using clear monofilament fishing line.
