- Add both sugars (brown and granulated) and beat on medium speed for about 1 minute until combined.

- Scoop the dough into 18 portions, each about 1/4 cup. Use a #16 ice cream scoop if desired.
- Press a few reserved chips onto the tops of each cookie dough ball.
- Set aside the remaining 2 ounces (1/3 cup) of chips for decorating spiders.
- Bake one sheet at a time for 14 to 18 minutes.
- Let cookies cool completely on the baking sheets.
- Place the reserved 2 ounces of chips in a small microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave for 20 seconds, stir, then another 15 seconds, stir.
- Let the chocolate sit for 1 minute, then stir again.
- If not fully melted, heat in 10-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.
- Transfer the melted chocolate to a squeeze bottle with a #2 round tip, or a pastry bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off.
- Pipe small spider bodies and legs onto the cookies, using the larger chips as the body.
- Let the chocolate dry completely, then serve and enjoy the surprised looks!
