This Halloween wreath starts with coffee-dyed filters stuffed into a straw base, then edged with distress ink and misted with pearl spray. Hand-painted Grungeboard letters and spiders, plus a ribbon stamped with a web design, complete the eerie decoration.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Mix leftover coffee to the strength you like, then soak the coffee filters in it and let them dry completely.
  2. Once the filters are dry, take a screwdriver and poke each filter into the straw wreath base.
  3. Space the filters roughly 2 inches apart as you insert them.
  4. Keep adding filters until the entire wreath is covered.
  5. Use the Walnut Stain Distress Ink and inking tool to darken the edges of the filters, giving them a creepy antique look.
  6. Spray the whole wreath with Perfect Pearl Mist for a subtle shimmer.
  7. Cut out the Gothic Boo and spider shapes from Grungeboard, then paint them with the Pitch Black Dabber.
  8. When the paint is dry, apply Glue 'n Seal and sprinkle black glitter over it. (Note: this step is risky!)
  9. Mist the back of the black velvet ribbon with water, then lay it face down on the spider web stamp. Press with a hot iron for about 15 seconds to transfer the image.
  10. Attach all the elements to the wreath using your preferred strong adhesive—I used Beacon 3-in-1 glue.
