Where to watch: Family Friend Poems (familyfriendpoems.com)
From the original
The poem is a brief, rhythmic description of Halloween night as a genuinely scary time: ghosts and goblins are out to frighten people, and the speaker warns readers to watch their back and stay alert, because being careless could lead to an unpleasant discovery. Possible sights include small black bats and frightening black cats. The closing image is of porches decorated with one or two pumpkins whose carved grins smirk creepily at passersby, echoing the opening line that the night is very spooky.
