Ingredients
Directions
- Start by heating your oven to 160°C (320°F). In a bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, vanilla extract, and confectioner's sugar.
- Mix in the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until a soft sugar cookie dough forms.
- Pinch off a small amount of dough and roll it into a thin, finger-length log.
- Press two knuckle-shaped indentations into the dough to mimic joints.
- Use a butter knife to create wrinkle lines across the middle of those indentations.
- Press a sliced almond into the tip to form a nail bed, then remove it.
- Melt the red candies in a bowl. Dip a small brush into the melted candy and paint the tip of the finger. Place an almond slice over the painted tip to look like a bloody nail.
- Gently transfer the cookies to a baking sheet. Cover with foil and freeze for 15 minutes, or refrigerate for 30 minutes. Bake at 320°F for 15-16 minutes. Let them cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Once fully cooled and firm, the Witch's Fingers are ready to serve.
