This Yule Ball Goulash is a rich and hearty stew inspired by the Harry Potter series. Tender beef tips, egg noodles, and vegetables simmer in a savory paprika-spiced broth for a comforting dish perfect for any wizard's feast.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Rinse and dice the potatoes and mushrooms. Chop the red bell pepper, celery, onions, and carrots into small pieces. Slice the steak into bite-sized chunks.
  2. Place a Dutch oven on medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once the oil shimmers, add the steak pieces and sear for 1 to 2 minutes until they are browned on the outside but still pink inside. Remove the steak from the pot and set aside.
  3. Pour the second tablespoon of olive oil into the Dutch oven. Add the diced potatoes and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until they start browning and become slightly translucent. Then add the onions and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes. Next, stir in the red pepper, carrot, celery, and mushrooms. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes more, until the mushrooms release moisture and the carrots and peppers soften.
  4. Sprinkle the flour, paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder over the vegetables and stir to coat. Add the diced tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring well. Increase the heat until it begins to simmer, then lower to medium and cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then add the egg noodles and return the seared steak to the pot. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, until the noodles are tender. Serve alongside crusty bread for a hearty meal.
