Brooklyn Nine-Nine Halloween episodes, ranked best heist first.
A yearly bet, a midnight deadline and one very competitive squad: HalloVeen, Halloween III and Halloween II lead our ranking of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s six heist episodes.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine turned Halloween into a tradition: once a year, the squad bets on who can steal a chosen prize before midnight, with the title of top detective on the line. It started as a one-on-one wager between Jake Peralta and Captain Holt and grew into a team sport.
We ranked all six heist episodes by IMDb rating, best first, for anyone rewatching or sampling the show. These are comedies for teens and up about people who take a bet far too seriously: heists rather than horror, and each one plays out within a single episode. Watch by rank for the highlights, or by season to follow the squad’s running score.

01
HalloVeen
The fifth annual heist sends the whole squad after a champion’s cummerbund, and the title drops Halloween’s W for a V, the Roman numeral for five. It’s the highest-rated of the six, so it’s the surest pick if you’re choosing just one.
-
02
Halloween III
Two crews, one crown: Jake and Holt each recruit a team for the third heist, and the prize is locked in a suitcase in the interrogation room. Pick it when you’re in the mood for rival plans colliding at full speed.
-
03
Halloween II
Round two sends Jake after Captain Holt’s wristwatch, with a midnight deadline and unpaid overtime waiting if he comes up short. Watch it right after the first heist, since it picks up the bet where that one left off.
-
04
Halloween IV
Jake, Holt and Amy each pick a partner and go after a plaque naming the ultimate detective, while Terry sits it out and Jake sends Hitchcock and Scully to tail him. Best for fans of heists with plenty of moving parts.
-
05
Halloween
Where the tradition begins, as a head-to-head wager: Jake bets he can lift Captain Holt’s Medal of Valor before midnight, with paperwork and unpaid weekends riding on it. Start here to watch the heists in order.
-
06
Valloweaster
The players are handcuffed in pairs, including Jake with Holt and Amy with Boyle, and the title mashes Valentine’s Day, Halloween and Easter into one word because the heist keeps getting pushed back. Best saved for last, once you know the earlier heists.
Come midnight, the loot hardly matters; the real prize is the right to gloat.
For a full heist night, watch by year rather than by rank: the original Halloween, then II, III and IV, then HalloVeen, with Valloweaster as the encore. The squad keeps a running tally, so the later heists land better when you’ve seen the earlier ones. Pair the marathon with a bowl of candy and a scorecard of your own, and when you run out of heists, the full watchlist has more Halloween episodes and movies.
