Cauldron drinks: three batches, zero fuss.

Three self-serve punch bases that hold a party for hours — family-safe as poured, and any of them takes a grown-up pour on the side without changing the recipe.

Batch drinks are the only party drinks: no bartending, no bottleneck, no one waiting on you mid-conversation. The formula for all three below is the same — a flavor base, a fizz added at the last minute, and one piece of theater floating in the bowl. Make the ice theatrical too: freeze water in a rubber glove tonight and you have a hand for the cauldron tomorrow.

House rule for mixed-age parties: the bowl itself stays family-safe, always. A bottle standing beside the cauldron lets grown-ups spike their own cup — nobody has to ask which punch is which, and no kid pours wrong.

The three batches

  1. The Eyeball Punch — the crowd one — Red-orange base, lychee-and-blueberry 'eyeballs' adrift, and the glove-hand iceberg. The one guests photograph. The full guide
  2. The Slime Punch — the kids' one — The sherbet-green classic: lime base, a brick of rainbow or lime sherbet melting into foam that genuinely looks like a science accident. Refoam with more sherbet each hour. Slime punch guides
  3. The Frankenstein — the dark one — Grape-and-ginger base, dry ice OPTIONAL and only in a separate vented vessel where no one can ladle it (dry ice never goes in cups). Without it, a black-cloth-wrapped bowl under one green light does 90% of the same work. Frankenstein punch guides

Cauldron logistics

  • Volume math — Three cups per guest for a three-hour party. A standard party bowl holds about sixteen cups — batch the base double and refill from a pitcher in the fridge.
  • The fizz rule — Carbonation dies in an hour. Add soda to the bowl in thirds across the night, not all at once.
  • The float rule — One piece of theater per bowl. An eyeball hand in slime under dry ice is not spooky, it's soup.
