This project guides you through decorating glasses with glitter using Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe Gloss. You will clean the glassware, apply painter's tape for masking, and use either a flat brush for stripes or a sponcer for dots. After adding glitter and sealing the design, the glasses require a 28-day curing period before becoming top-rack dishwasher safe.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Start by wiping down each glass thoroughly using rubbing alcohol and a paper towel to remove any oils or residue. Once clean, apply a strip of blue painter's tape around the upper rim of every glass to protect that area during the decorating process.
  2. To create the striped design, place additional pieces of blue painter's tape across the glass in a scattered pattern. Using a flat bristle brush, spread a layer of the dishwasher-safe gloss Mod Podge onto the exposed sections between the tape strips. While the adhesive is still wet, generously sprinkle glitter over those areas. Carefully peel away the tape before the coating dries completely, then apply a final sealing layer of the gloss Mod Podge over the glitter to lock it in place.
  3. For the dotted pattern, load a sponcer brush with the dishwasher-safe gloss Mod Podge. Press the brush gently against the glass to create dots, then immediately sprinkle glitter over the wet adhesive spots. Once the dots are set, cover the entire design with another layer of the gloss Mod Podge to secure the glitter.
  4. Allow the decorated glasses to cure for a full 28 days before use. After this period, they are safe for cleaning on the top rack of a dishwasher.
