PHOTO · EASYPEASYANDFUN.COM

This cute DIY monster card features a foldable mouth with teeth, googly eyes, and optional wings or tentacles. You'll use colored paper, scissors, and glue to build a playful Halloween greeting that's perfect for kids and adults alike. Add a personalized note inside for a spooktacular surprise.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Take a sheet of cardstock (black works great) and fold it in half to create the card base.
  2. Run your finger along the fold to make it crisp and sharp.
  3. Cut two large circles from bright green paper. Glue the first one onto the front of the card.
  4. Fold the second circle in half and glue it onto the card as well, positioning it to form the monster's mouth.
  5. Press down firmly so the glue sets properly.
  6. Cut a smaller circle from red paper, fold it in half, and glue it inside the folded green circle to create the inner mouth.
  7. Cut teeth from white paper—triangles, squares, or any shape you like. Glue them inside the mouth so they peek out over the edge a bit.
  8. Close the monster's mouth. If desired, draw nostrils or other details, and attach a pair (or more) of googly eyes.
  9. Cut a pair of wings or tentacles from paper (we used blue wings). Attach them to your monster. Feel free to use horns, octopus-like tentacles, or anything else.
  10. Add a pair of legs—or even a dozen—to your monster.
  11. Open the card and write a note inside. Acrylic pens or chalk pens work well on black paper.
  12. Alternatively, cut a shape from brighter paper, glue it inside, and write your message on that.
