Create both a ghost and a mummy costume from fabric, cardboard, and a hard hat, then apply a haunting white makeup with bruised eyes and contours. Perfect for Halloween, these looks combine draped layers and dramatic face paint for an unforgettable effect.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Take long fabric strips and cut two openings in them. Arrange one strip so its length reaches the ground, and position the other to cover your arms.
  2. Shape cardboard to broaden and exaggerate your shoulders, making them more imposing. Drape fabric over the cardboard as well.
  3. Place a hard hat on your head and drape additional fabric over it to create a hooded effect.
  4. Carry a copper lantern to complete the look.
  5. Cut vertical slits into the hem of the gauzy skirt. The more ragged the edges, the better.
  6. Use extra fabric to wrap around your upper body. Weave pieces through the wrapped layers for added texture. Keep wrapping freely until you feel sufficiently mummified.
  7. Apply a layer of white makeup to your face, neck, and décolletage using a makeup sponge or stippling brush. Extend to your arms if desired.
  8. For depth, use a black and charcoal contour to shade the hollows of your cheeks, around your hairline, sides of your nose, under your nose and lower lip, down your neck, and across your décolletage.
  9. To create bruised, bloody eyes, use a deep red cream shadow to draw circles around your eyes covering your eyebrows, then fill them in. Add depth with black eyeshadow in your creases, inner corners, and along your lower lash line. Set the red with a lighter red eyeshadow over the remaining area.
  10. Line your entire eye rim and apply several coats of mascara. On your lips, dab a little nude gloss over the white base so some natural lip color peeks through.
