Directions
- Choose the area of your porch or arch where you want the web. Clean the surface with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, wiping gently and letting it dry.
- To attach a Command Large Outdoor Graphite Hook, remove the blue liner and press the adhesive to the hook's mounting base.
- Remove the black liner from the wall side and press the hook onto the surface for 10 seconds.
- For maximum hold, slide the hook up off the base and press firmly against the base for 30 seconds.
- Slide the hook back onto its base and wait one hour before use. Repeat steps 1-4 for all remaining hooks (use four graphite hooks in total).
- Take one 12x12-inch sheet of black cardstock and fold it into fourths.
- Trace a half bat shape onto the folded paper using a pencil.
- Cut out the bat along the pencil line, but do not cut along the folded edge—that would cut the bat in half.
- Unfold the paper to reveal a full bat, then repeat for as many bats as you like (use the 15 sheets of cardstock).
- Take the gray burlap and cut it in half lengthwise. Then, make cuts perpendicular to that cut, stopping about 4 inches from the end, and space each cut 4 to 6 inches apart.
- String the gray burlap from one graphite hook to another to create a banner-like base for the spider web.
- Cut the remaining fabric (white burlap or tulle) into random strips. Use these strips to start the upper part of the web, hanging them on the remaining graphite hooks.
- Staple the various strips together until the entire desired web area is filled.
- Step back and check the web for gaps. Add more fabric where needed to fill empty spaces and add texture.
- Once the fabric web is complete, staple the bats onto the fabric, spacing them evenly. Use 1 to 2 staples per bat.
- Fill in the area around the web with other festive decorations like pumpkins, wreaths, and banners.
- To make a simple door wreath, wrap a piece of orange burlap around a foam wreath form, pin one of the bats onto it, and tie a coordinating ribbon at the top. Hang the wreath using a Command Large Outdoor Forever Classic Metal Hook.
- Finish decorating the porch with fall-themed items such as pumpkins, hay bales, and banners to complete the festive look.
