I'm using 10" terra cotta flower pots. Make sure to remove the labels from the flower pots. Then wipe them down with a wet towel to remove any dirt or debris on them. This is important because if they are dirty the paint won’t stick properly. Let them dry completely before you start painting.

This project guides you through assembling a Frankenstein-themed candy holder using two 10-inch terra cotta pots, a purple long-sleeve shirt, and basic crafting supplies. The process involves painting the pots, adding fabric hair, drawing facial details, and assembling the figure with a shirt body. The final result is a customizable Halloween decoration perfect for holding treats.

Directions

  1. Start by peeling off any manufacturer labels from your 10-inch terra cotta pots. Wipe each one clean with a damp cloth to eliminate dust or residue, then allow them to air dry fully before proceeding.
  2. Apply your chosen paint to the pots. For indoor projects, standard acrylic works well, while outdoor displays require weather-resistant formulas. Coat one pot with chalkboard paint and the other with green chalk paint, letting each layer dry according to the product instructions.
  3. Take the black dollar store tablecloth and cut a long strip. Fold the strip over and snip small triangles along one edge to mimic shaggy hair. Secure this fringe to the upper edge of the green-painted pot using a hot glue gun.
  4. Sketch a face directly onto the green pot with a pencil. Once you are happy with the layout, trace the design using paint and markers. Be sure to add the iconic stitched scar on the forehead and bolts on the neck.
  5. Pull the purple long-sleeve shirt over the unpainted pot. Fill the sleeves with crumpled grocery bags to give them shape, then use hot glue to attach the shirt's cuffs so they appear tucked into pockets.
  6. Spread a layer of silicone sealant around the top rim of the shirt-covered base. Carefully set the green 'head' pot onto the sealant, pressing gently to create a secure bond.
  7. Personalize the top with a hat, autumn blooms, artificial flowers, or twigs. Once assembled, your Frankenstein candy holder is ready to greet trick-or-treaters.
