This project guides you through creating a festive autumn display by combining fresh greens, tiny gourds, and illuminated accents in a suspended container. You will also learn how to craft hanging paper creatures using a digital cutter and transparent cord, plus how to refresh old floral arrangements with dark paint for a cohesive, eerie look.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Suspend a container designed for autumn harvests and pack it with leafy greens and tiny gourds sourced from your local market.
  2. Attach festive lighting and a decorative ring to your glass pane, securing the ring with a transparent adhesive hook and fastening the illuminated strands using specialized outdoor clips.
  3. For an extra eerie touch, take a dried floral arrangement and coat it entirely in dark paint to create a matching macabre accent.
  4. Suspend crafted creatures from the ceiling by threading transparent cord through a scaled-up silhouette traced from heavy paper using a digital cutting tool.
  5. Adjust the proportions of the paper shape to elongate the wings, giving the figure a more dynamic and menacing appearance.
  6. Crease each paper figure down the middle and secure them to the exterior wall using adhesive mounting pads.
  7. Puncture a small opening at the top or bottom edge of each figure, then fasten them to the porch roof using compact adhesive mounting strips.
