These Fossil Cookies are a fun and festive treat for Halloween. Start by creaming butter and sugars, then add eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour and baking powder, chill the dough, and roll it out. Use cookie cutters to shape the cookies, bake, and let them cool. Prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar and vanilla, then pipe it into the bone impressions. Let the cookies dry completely before serving or storing them in an airtight container.

  1. Cream softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg, vanilla, and milk; mix well.
  3. Combine flour and baking powder; whisk until smooth.
  4. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, stirring after each addition.
  5. Chill dough in fridge for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  7. Roll out dough on floured surface.
  8. Use cookie cutters to shape cookies, removing inner cutter first.
  9. Bake for 7 minutes; let cool on pan for 10 minutes.
  10. Prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar and vanilla; add milk if needed.
  11. Pipe icing into bone impressions on cookies.
  12. Let cookies and icing set completely.
  13. Serve or store in an airtight container.
