How to Make a Glitter Pumpkin

This guide walks you through drilling and smoothing cavities in Styrofoam pumpkins, coating them with primer and glitter spray paint, and attaching printed name cards with brads to create festive place card holders.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Attach a hole saw bit that matches the diameter of your tea light candles to a cordless drill. Carefully drill a circular opening into the top surface of each Styrofoam pumpkin.
  2. Take a craft knife and gently carve away the loose foam around the drilled edge. This will smooth out the rim and ensure the candle sits flush inside the cavity.
  3. Apply a layer of spray primer to the entire exterior of the pumpkins. Once the primer is dry, coat them completely with the glitter spray paint.
  4. Allow the glitter layer to dry thoroughly before applying a final coat of clear spray paint to seal the finish.
  5. Print your guests' names onto cardstock paper. Trim the paper so it fits neatly within the dimensions of your place card holders.
  6. Secure each name card to the pumpkin by piercing a scrapbook brad or thumbtack through the paper and into the foam.
