These Halloween chocolate chip cookies combine buttery dough with chocolate chips and festive sprinkles. After chilling, they bake up soft and chewy, with optional candy eyes for a spooky touch. Perfect for parties or a fun baking project.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and the egg, then mix until everything is fully incorporated.
  3. Add the flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix on low speed until the dough starts to come together, then increase speed and mix for another 15–30 seconds until smooth. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Be careful not to overmix—stop as soon as the dough is just combined.
  4. Using a spatula or large spoon, gently fold in the chocolate chips and Halloween sprinkles until evenly distributed.
  5. Scoop the dough into 2-tablespoon-sized balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. They can be close together since you're not baking yet.
  6. Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1.5 to 2 hours, or up to 24 hours.
  7. When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F.
  8. Arrange the chilled dough balls on a parchment-lined or silicone mat–lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 11–13 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Remove the cookies from the oven. If using candy eyes, press them onto the warm cookies immediately.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet, then enjoy!
