These Halloween Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies combine a rich chocolate brownie base with a tangy, orange-tinted cream cheese layer. Swirled together and baked until set, they're a festive and delicious dessert for your spooky celebrations.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Start by heating your oven to 350°F. Mist a 9x9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of chocolate chips with the butter. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and melted. Let it cool a little.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, use a wooden spoon or spatula to blend the white sugar and brown sugar together. Pour in the cooled butter-chocolate mix and stir until just combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  6. Set aside about ¼ cup of the brownie batter. Spread the rest into the prepared pan and put it aside.
  7. For the cream cheese layer, combine the cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a medium bowl. Use a hand or stand mixer to beat until smooth.
  8. Add orange food coloring one drop at a time, stirring by hand after each drop, until you reach the shade you like.
  9. Pour the orange cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie layer and spread it evenly.
  10. Drop small spoonfuls of the reserved brownie batter onto the cream cheese layer. Use a toothpick or knife to swirl them together, creating fun orange and brown patterns.
  11. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  12. Let the brownies cool completely, then cut into squares and serve. Happy Halloween!
