These Halloween Crinkle Cookies use a vanilla cake mix as a shortcut, tinted with orange, black, and purple gel coloring. After chilling and coating in icing sugar, they're baked with monster eye candies for a creepy-cute finish.

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a mixer bowl, combine the cake mix, food coloring gel, oil, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes.
  4. Scoop out a tablespoon of dough, roll it into a ball, then coat it in icing sugar.
  5. Place the sugar-coated balls in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Arrange the dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and press a monster eye candy into the center of each.
  7. Chill the baking sheet with cookies in the fridge for 15 minutes.
  8. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the pan, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
