HALLOWEEN FROZEN BANANA TREATS

Directions

1. Slice each banana in half crosswise and carefully peel. Insert a popsicle stick into each half, pushing gently to avoid splitting. Arrange on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.
2. Divide ½ cup of white chocolate chips between two microwave-safe jars, and put ½ cup of dark chocolate chips into a third jar. Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to each jar. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth. Tint one jar of white chocolate with a few drops of green candy coloring and stir.
3. For the bat wings: Microwave 2 tablespoons of dark chocolate chips at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until melted. Spoon into a small zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and pipe two sets of bat wings onto wax paper. Let set, then carefully peel off.
4. Use leftover melted dark chocolate from the wings to attach a chocolate kiss on top of each chocolate sandwich cookie. Once firm, pipe purple decorating icing around the seam and add a few gold star sprinkles.
5. For ghosts: Dip 2 frozen bananas into the white chocolate (uncolored), letting excess drip off in a ghostly pattern. Return to tray and freeze. Microwave a piece of white taffy for 5–7 seconds until pliable, then roll 4 small balls for arms. Attach arms to each ghost using a dab of white chocolate. Use a toothpick dipped in dark chocolate for eyes and pink icing for cheeks. Refreeze.
6. For black cats: Dip 2 frozen bananas into melted dark chocolate, letting excess drip off. Freeze briefly. Microwave chocolate taffy until pliable, then shape 4 paws, 2 triangle ears, and a tail per cat. Attach with a little dark chocolate. Use a toothpick dipped in a mix of dark and white chocolate for the face. Add pink icing cheeks and white jimmies as whiskers. Refreeze.
7. For bats: Dip 2 bananas in dark chocolate and refreeze. Microwave chocolate taffy and mold 4 triangles for ears; attach with dark chocolate. Cut a large marshmallow in half and place the halves on either side of the banana body to prop up the wings. Dip wing tips into melted dark chocolate (without coconut oil) and attach, using marshmallows to hold. Use dark and white chocolate on a toothpick for the face, plus pink icing cheeks. Refreeze.
8. For witches: Dip the last 2 bananas into the green-tinted white chocolate, then immediately sprinkle the bottom with purple sprinkles. Freeze. Microwave green taffy until pliable and roll 2 arms per witch. Pull apart licorice strands for hair. Attach arms with green chocolate. Use dark and white chocolate on a toothpick for faces and pink icing for cheeks.
