Facts from the original
- Halloween II (also known as simply H2) is a 2009 American slasher film written and directed by Rob Zombie.
- It is the tenth installment in the Halloween film series and the sequel to Zombie's 2007 remake of Halloween (1978).
From the original
Rob Zombie wrote, directed, and produced Halloween II (2009), also known as H2, a sequel to his 2007 remake of John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) and the tenth film in the franchise; it is not a remake of the 1981 sequel of the same name. The film follows Laurie Strode in the aftermath of the Haddonfield murders as she spirals psychologically, her deteriorating bond with fellow survivor Annie Brackett, Dr. Loomis cashing in on the tragedy with a new book, and Michael Myers returning to reunite with his sister on Halloween. Zombie focused on the shared psychological problems of Strode and Myers, aimed for a more realistic and more violent sequel, and shot in Covington, Georgia for its look, with Carpenter's theme appearing only in the final scene. Dimension Films released it in North America on August 28, 2009, to 3,025 theaters, and re-released it on October 30, 2009 for the Halloween weekend. Reviews were negative (25% on Rotten Tomatoes, 35 on Metacritic), and it grossed $33.4 million domestically and $6.0 million overseas, for a worldwide $39.4 million. Zombie declined a further sequel, Halloween 3D, which was announced in 2009 and cancelled in 2012.
