These Halloween Lollipop Cookies are made from a simple sugar cookie dough divided into three colors—orange, black, and white. The dough is twisted into tri-color ropes, coiled into circles, and baked with lollipop sticks for a playful, handheld dessert. Perfect for parties or trick-or-treaters, they're as delicious as they are decorative.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and white sugar together until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract. Then stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least one hour, or overnight.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  5. Divide the chilled dough into three equal portions. Tint each portion with a different food gel color—orange, black, and bright white.
  6. Pinch off about a tablespoon of each colored dough and roll each piece into a log roughly 10 inches long.
  7. Place the three colored logs side by side to form a tri-color rope.
  8. Carefully twist the rope, then coil it into a circle like a snail. Transfer the coiled cookie to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Insert a bake-safe lollipop stick straight through the center of the cookie, ensuring it passes through all the coils without poking out the top. Alternatively, you can place the stick behind the cookie and press the cookie onto it.
  10. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  11. Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
