Transform into a mystical sea creature with this Halloween mermaid makeup guide. Start with a flawless foundation and pink blush, then create realistic fish scales using a fishnet stocking and blue creme foundations set with shimmering shadows. Finish with dramatic blue and purple eye makeup, including a cat-eye liner and matching waterline.
Directions
- Begin by evening out your complexion with a natural foundation and concealer that matches your skin tone. Lock everything in place with a loose powder for a smooth, soft look. Then sweep a pink blush across your cheekbones.
- Take a pair of ordinary fishnet stockings and cut off one leg, then snip off the foot so you’re left with a tube. Stretch the widest part of the tube gently over your face. Using a brush, sponge, or your fingertip, dab blue creme foundation around your eyes, brows, and cheekbones—be careful to hold the fishnet steady so it doesn’t slide. Next, add light blue creme foundation, blending it outward above your brows and downward below your cheekbones. To set the creme, dust on shimmering eye shadows in similar hues with a fluffy brush, recreating the same fade effect. First apply blue eyeshadow, then transition to aqua. Finish by brushing silver/white mineral shimmer shadow over the whole design for a scaly, light-reflecting look; concentrate extra shimmer at the faded edges. Carefully peel off the fishnet to uncover the fish-scale pattern.
- Fill in your eyebrows with a brush and blue creme foundation, then lightly dust with shadow to set. Sweep silver/white mineral shimmer shadow over your lids and into the inner corners. Apply purple eyeshadow to the outer corners, blending inward toward the silver shimmer. Repeat the purple shade along your lower lash line. Draw a bold cat eye using bright blue liquid eyeliner—make the line thick so it remains visible under false lashes. Finish by lining your waterline with a matching blue pencil liner.
