Recreate a Halloween movie theater experience with DIY decorations including a zombie usher, skeleton ticket taker, and a full concession stand. Use PVC pipes, sheets, and thrifted costumes to build immersive props, and project classic monster movies onto a white sheet screen. Add glow-in-the-dark signs and vintage posters for the perfect spooky atmosphere.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Construct PVC pipe frames to drape black twin-size flat sheets across the walls.
  2. Suspend a white sheet (or utilize a large white wall) as the movie screen.
  3. Place a movie projector on a shelf, angling it to project onto the screen.
  4. Assemble a zombie usher with a PVC pipe human frame, bubble wrap to bulk the chest, pool noodles for arms, and store-bought zombie head and hands. Outfit in a red jacket and hat (Mr. VIP Valet costume) with black pants and shoes.
  5. Fashion a skeleton ticket taker by dressing a life-size skeleton prop in another valet costume (red jacket and hat).
  6. Construct a ticket booth from a foam core science project board, a black cardboard countertop, and a printed 'Now Showing' sign protected by a clear acetate sheet window.
  7. Arrange a concession stand featuring a popcorn maker, shelves stocked with movie theater candy boxes and jars, and a vinyl sign illuminated by battery-operated lights.
  8. Decorate with signage and wall hangings, including a large glow-in-the-dark theater sign (using glow-in-the-dark paint and a black light) and classic monster movie posters.
