These fun mummy-shaped rolls are made from pizza dough filled with cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon, then baked until golden. After baking, they're topped with candy eyes and served with a blood-red hollandaise sauce for a festive Halloween breakfast.
Ingredients
Directions
- Set your oven to 380°F.
- On a clean surface, roll out the pizza dough to about 18 by 12 inches.
- Cut the dough lengthwise into two strips, then make two even cuts across to get six equal rectangles.
- In the middle of each rectangle, layer cheese, scrambled eggs, crumbled sausage, chopped bacon, and a little more cheese.
- Using clean kitchen shears, snip the edges of each dough rectangle every ¼ to ½ inch, cutting about 1 inch deep to create a fringe.
- Gently stretch each fringed strip across the filling to the opposite side, pinching the ends underneath to secure. Repeat until all dough is crisscrossed, forming a mummy shape.
- Designate one end as the head. About 1 inch from the top, cut or pull open a small space for the eyes (to be added after baking).
- Place the mummies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well, then generously brush the mixture over each mummy.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until deep golden brown. Let cool for a couple of minutes.
- Insert two candy eyes into the openings you made earlier, then transfer the mummies to a serving platter or plates.
- Just before serving, stir a few drops of red food coloring into the warm hollandaise sauce (start with about 8 drops and add more to reach the desired color).
