About this
This is the Halloween Recipes category page from the blog Between Naps on the Porch, a decorated-porch lifestyle site by Susan. It collects the blog's Halloween-themed recipe and table-setting posts, spanning 2009 to 2014, covering Halloween tablescapes, owl and spider cupcakes, Linzer cookies, DIY beverage tags, and holiday ingredient substitutions. Each entry is a teaser linking to the full post with its date, comment count, and the filed-under and tagged topics listed. Readers get a round-up index of the blog's Halloween recipe, tablescape, and craft content rather than a single project.
The plan
- Pick a Halloween table theme such as "The Witching Hour" or a spider-themed "Killer Cafe"
- Source plates and a centerpiece; a cookie jar set on cake pedestals can serve as the centerpiece
- Plan the sweets—owl cupcakes, spider cupcakes, or Halloween Linzer cookies
- Check the pantry against an ingredient substitution list so nothing runs short during holiday cooking
- Add drink labels or beverage tags to the drinks station
Decoration ideas
- An owl cookie jar placed atop two cake pedestals to add height at the center of the table
- Knock-off Pottery Barn clock plates used in a Halloween table setting dubbed "The Witching Hour"
- David Carter Brown Halloween plates
- Pumpkin Hollow plates
- A spider-web tablecloth with a "Killer Cafe" menu; no tablecloth needed since the spiders did the work
Food & drink
- Owl cupcakes
- Spider cupcakes
- Halloween Linzer cookies made with Halloween-themed cookie cutters
- Halloween foods and Halloween treats
- Beverages served with handmade beverage tags and drink labels
- A reference list of emergency substitutions for common ingredients
Activities
- Linking up a Halloween or fall tablescape to the weekly Tablescape Thursday party
- Listening to the recording of owls hooting at night in the backyard for table-setting inspiration
- Making your own beverage tags as a Ballard Designs knock-off craft
