These Halloween popcorn treats combine fluffy popcorn with a gooey marshmallow coating, then studded with chopped Snickers bars, cookie crumbs, almonds, and M&Ms. After setting for an hour, they are broken into pieces and can be bagged as favors. The recipe yields a crunchy, sweet snack that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Coat the interior of a large mixing bowl with vegetable cooking spray, and give a baking sheet a light coating as well. Put them aside for later.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan that holds at least 3 quarts, warm the vegetable oil and popcorn kernels over medium-high heat. Put the lid on and shake the pan gently. Keep cooking until popping stops, roughly 3 minutes. Transfer the popped corn into the sprayed bowl.
  3. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and mini marshmallows, and keep stirring until everything is fully melted and smooth, about 5 minutes. Pour this mixture over the popcorn. Use a spatula that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray to fold the marshmallow coating evenly through the popcorn. Then spread the mixture out onto the prepared baking sheet. Scatter the cut-up chocolate bars, crumbled cookies, chopped almonds, and orange-and-black candies over the top. With the sprayed spatula, gently press the toppings into the popcorn. Allow the treat to set for 1 hour.
  4. Snap the cooled popcorn mixture into pieces about 2 inches across, and keep them in an airtight plastic container.
  5. For a festive presentation, package the pieces in small plastic bags tied with colorful ribbon.
