These spooky spiderweb cookies start with your favorite sugar cookie recipe and are frosted with cream cheese icing. A black frosting spiral is transformed into a web with a toothpick, then topped with a plastic spider ring. They're a fun and festive treat for any Halloween gathering.
Ingredients
Directions
- Roll out the sugar cookie dough and cut out circles with a round cookie cutter. Bake them as directed and let them cool fully.
- Make your favorite frosting and frost the cookies, setting aside at least 1/4 cup for the web design.
- Stir black food coloring into the reserved frosting until it turns black. Spoon the black frosting into a plastic zip bag and snip a tiny piece off one corner.
- Use the bag to pipe the black frosting in a spiral shape on each cookie, beginning at the center and moving outward.
- With a toothpick, pull through the frosting from the center to the outer edge in eight places to form a web pattern.
- Place a spider from a spider ring (snip off the ring portion first) on top of each cookie.
