Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at theidearoom.net.
These Rice Krispies ghosts are a fun Halloween snack made by shaping the treats into rounded rectangles, inserting sticks, and coating with melted white chocolate. Mini chocolate chips form the eyes, and you can add sprinkles for extra flair. Let them harden before serving.
Ingredients
Directions
- Prepare your preferred Rice Krispies Treats recipe.
- Spread the mixture into a jelly roll pan instead of a 9x13 pan to make flatter ghosts and get more treats per batch.
- Allow the treats to firm up slightly, then slice them into rectangles. Cutting the whole pan at once helps keep pieces uniform.
- Take each rectangle and trim the top corners to create a rounded shape, resembling a ghost's head.
- If making ghost pops, gently insert a popsicle or sucker stick into the bottom of each shaped treat.
- Return the ghosts to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let them set until firm.
- Place white melting chocolate, white chocolate chips, or white candy melts in a small bowl. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until fully melted.
- Spread the melted chocolate over the rounded top of each ghost, extending down the front and sides as far as you like.
- Return them to the parchment paper and add mini chocolate chips for eyes. Use the tip of a butter knife to position the eyes without disturbing the chocolate. Optionally, add sprinkles.
- Allow the chocolate to harden. For quicker results, place in the freezer.
