You'll need
Directions
- Measure the hoop's circumference and buy tan felt that wraps around it plus an extra 2 inches for overlapping in the back. From the felt length, cut the circumference piece, then measure from the child's shoulders to feet, adding 6 inches for gluing to the hoop. For smaller costumes, you can cut the leftover felt from the largest costume in half lengthwise and it should be long enough.
- Hot glue the felt's edge along the hoop's top, covering it all around. Then overlap the 2-inch extra and glue it down to form the back seam. Note that armholes were not cut for a walking parade, but you could add them after assembly.
- To keep the hoop on the shoulders, mark the front and back spots on the hoop, make small crosswise slits there, and cut grosgrain ribbon long enough to pull through the slits and knot around the hoop. Place ribbons close together so the head slips through and they don't slide off.
- For the white felt whipped cream, cut a piece about 1.5 times the hoop circumference in length and 12 inches wide. Overlap and glue the short ends to form a circle, then use a heavy needle and embroidery floss to tack it to the hoop at the back, front, and both sides. Scrunch the felt frequently and tack it to the tan felt near the hoop all around so it stays at the top.
- For each straw, measure green felt around a half pool noodle, adding a few inches for the seam and ends. Glue the seam and cover the ends. Place the straw inside the hoop and pin it onto the child's white hoodie to stand up securely.
- Find a website to customize a coffee logo with your last name and the three coffee sizes (tall, grande, venti) for each girl's costume.
- Go to a local Starbucks and ask to borrow aprons; they obliged, but you'll need to return them afterward.
